The Long Game

Quintin Lewis, a Las Vegas local for 22 years, learned on the golf course that one bad shot never decides the round. Now he brings that mindset to helping people buy, sell, and invest across the valley.

Quentin Lewis never planned to play golf.

As a high school freshman, he was a self-described band nerd. One day he was standing in the back of the band room with his friends, near the cool kids, when his band director called out, "Hey, Quintin, you're going out for golf."

"I thought he was talking to a different Quintin," he says. "But he was actually pointing at me."

It was the first year of the school's golf program, with a brand-new coach, and Quintin had never touched a golf club. He walked in believing golf was a hard game that only old people played.

"Boy, was I wrong," he says. Once he learned the fundamentals and developed the mechanics to make good contact with the ball, the game became fun. Three years later, he was captain of the team.

Golf stayed with him after graduation, and so did Las Vegas. Quintin has been a Vegas local for about 22 years. Today he is a realtor serving the entire Las Vegas Valley, and he still gets out on the course as often as he can, whether that means a weekend round with friends or a day out with a client.

"There's nothing like getting out there and being able to get away from the everyday hustle," he says. "Enjoy some time out on the greens, grab some food, and spend time with people you care about."

One Bad Shot Does Not Decide the Round

Ask Quintin what golf has taught him, and he answers with one word: resilience.

"You're on the tee box or in the middle of the fairway, and you duff a shot," he says. "You hit a really bad shot that puts you in a bad position. In life, that can be a decision, a situation, or a circumstance. It may look like it's there to hurt us, but we still have the hole to finish."

He sees the same pattern in a bad week, a bad month, or even a bad year. "In the long run, you still have 18 holes to play," he says. "You still have more time and more experiences. As long as you wake up with that mindset every day, it's a win-win."

"You can't let that one bad shot or that one bad day dictate your entire round."Quintin Lewis

Five Hours on the Course

Quintin has been in real estate for four years in total, after stepping away and coming back to the business. He treats it the same way he treats a tough round.

"In business and in life, you're going to have days where nothing's connecting and business seems harder than it should," he says. "But you have to know that every conversation has some sort of value attached to it."

His own value proposition is simple. "I'm in this business to help people," he says. "I'm in this business to educate people on homeownership, what that looks like, and the financial opportunities it can provide."

Golf is how he builds the relationships behind that work. A round gives him time with people away from the talk of business and money, and it gives clients the chance to know the person they are trusting with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

"If you really want to get to know me, what better way than to spend five hours with me on a golf course?"Quintin Lewis

"You get to know Q," he says, "what I like, and the things that are important to me outside of my business."

He also documents the work. On his YouTube channel, Quintin posts long-form videos about the process of being a realtor in Las Vegas and navigating every side of the business.

A City Just Getting Started

After more than two decades in the valley, Quintin believes Las Vegas is only at the beginning.

"We're still fairly small compared to major cities like Los Angeles and New York," he says. "But we're considered the entertainment capital of the world."

He points to the city's growing list of teams: the Golden Knights, the Aces, the Raiders, the A's on the way, and, he hopes, a basketball team someday. "We're going to have everything you need to really make Las Vegas home," he says.

Life Off the Strip

What Quintin loves most is how much the city now offers locals away from the tourist corridor.

"Before, it was just casinos and bright lights. Now we're becoming a more family-friendly city."Quintin Lewis

"We have things you can do that don't even involve touching the Strip," he says.

For him, that is the real advantage of living here. When you do not want to sit in traffic or deal with the noise of the Strip, there is still plenty to do. "That's the best part," he says. "Having the options to enjoy a city that offers so much without having to do the typical tourist thing."

Need a Fourth?

Quintin is always happy to talk real estate, and just as happy to talk golf. "I love to connect with people through golf," he says. "I'm always an available resource when it comes to real estate, whether that's buying, selling, or investing."

And if you are short a player for your next round, he might be your fourth.

Editor's noteQuintin Lewis learned early that a bad shot is only one shot. It is a lesson that carried him from the back of a band room to team captain, and back into real estate for a second run. Whether he is walking a client through their first home or walking the fairway on a Saturday, he plays the long game. Look him up, and bring your clubs.
